Alcoa on track with volunteer support
Alcoa’s long-term and ongoing support of the volunteer networks that maintain WA’s premier walking track and cycling trail – the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trail – was sheeted home to a group of Alcoa employees who recently completed a guided walk hosted by the Bibbulmun Track Foundation.
The Alcoa employees and their friends and family members recently walked a section of the Bibbulmun Track near Dwellingup to the Swamp Oak campsite, which has had an extension added in the past 12 months by Bibbulmun Track Foundation’s Volunteer Support Team.
Alcoa Willowdale Mine Manager Trever Stockil said the partnerships Alcoa had with the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Foundations were important.
“On our walk we heard from our guides about the critical role that volunteers play in keeping the track and associated infrastructure maintained,” Trever said. “Our guides shared a wealth of knowledge on local flora and fauna and my son and I had a fantastic day on the track. I feel very proud to work for a company that supports these volunteers to undertake their important work.”
Alcoa’s long-running partnerships with both the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi foundations, fund maintenance tasks undertaken by the large group of committed volunteers associated with these essential non-profit organisations. Upkeep of these world-class tracks and trails ensure they can be enjoyed by local and overseas users alike, year-round.
