Alcoa: Top Employer for Gender Equality
Alcoa of Australia’s commitment to gender equality in the workplace was today recognised for the 17th year running, with Chairman and Managing Director Michael Parker firmly focused on creating an inclusive and equitable work environment for all. The Federal Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency named Alcoa an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality. The citation is a prestigious acknowledgment of organisations that encourage, recognise and promote active commitment to achieving gender equality in their workplaces.

School volunteers make a big difference
Volunteers in local schools helped more than 1,500 students in 2018 and in doing so made an economic contribution of nearly $800,000. Alcoa Foundation is providing US$180,000 to continue supporting EdConnect’s ‘Connecting Generations for School Success’ program in the local area for the next three years.

Measuring rehabilitation has taken flight
Rehabilitation assessment is a complex but crucial task, and new technology is now helping Alcoa of Australia safely and efficiently measure the progress of its world class environmental rehabilitation. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology is a remote sensing technology ideal for use in large areas, according to Alcoa Environmental Improvement Specialist, Cameron Richardson, who is pioneering its use for Alcoa’s environmental team.
